Ivermectin 1% Injection
Features:
1) Composition: ivermectin 10mg/ml
2) Pharmacological properties:
Ivermectin is a semi-synthetic derivative of avermectin and has a broad spectrum of activity against a wide variety of arthropods and nematodes of wild and domestic animals. Ivermectin paralyses nematodes and arthropods by stimulating GABA-mediated chloride ion conductance. The effects of ivermectin are irreversible and prolonged.
3) Indications:
For the treatment and control of gastro-intestinal nematodes, lungworms, eyeworms, warbles, mites and lice in cattle, camels, pigs, sheep and goats.
4)Dosage and administration:
--cattle and camels: 200 micrograms ivermectin per kg bodyweight or 1 ml per 50 kg bodyweight by S.C. injection.
--pigs: 300 micrograms ivermectin per kg bodyweight or 1 ml per 33 kg bodyweight by S.C. injection.
--sheep and goats: 200 micrograms ivermectin per kg bodyweight or 0.5 ml per 25 kg bodyweight by S.C. injection.
For the treadment and control of Psoroptis ovis (sheep scab), two injections with a seven days interval are required to treat clinical signs of scab to eliminate living mites.
5) Contra-indications and warnings:
Transitory discomfort has been observed in some cattle following subcutaneous administration. A low incidence of soft tissue swelling at the injection site has been observed. These reactions have disapperaed without treatment. Immediately following subcutaneous injection, activity suggestion pain, sometimes intense, but usually transient, has been observed in some sheep.
Take care to avoid self-administration: the product may cause local irritation and/or pain at the site to injection.
